You are responsible for ensuring that your use of our online services is compatible with your device, software, browser, and internet environment. We are not responsible for interruptions caused by your equipment, third-party platforms, or internet service.
4. Payment Terms and Conditions
Fees for services will be disclosed at the time of booking, enrolment, or invoice issuance. Unless otherwise stated, all fees are quoted in Canadian dollars (CAD).
- Payment may be required in advance, in full, or in installments, depending on the service purchased.
- We may require deposits or prepayment to confirm a booking or reserve a seat in a class.
- All fees must be paid by the due date stated on the invoice or booking confirmation.
- Late payments may result in suspended access to services, administrative charges where permitted by law, or cancellation of enrolment.
- Unless expressly stated otherwise, fees do not include taxes. Applicable taxes, including GST/HST where required, will be added to the extent applicable under Canadian law.
- Prices are subject to change; however, changes will not affect services already paid for unless required by law or expressly agreed.
If a payment method is declined, reversed, or disputed without valid reason, you remain responsible for the outstanding amount and any associated fees permitted by law.
For corporate or institutional clients, separate written agreements may supplement or override these payment terms where expressly stated.
5. Cancellation and Refund Policy
Cancellation and refund requests are subject to the terms communicated at the time of purchase and, where applicable, the following general policy, subject to any non-waivable consumer rights under applicable law:
- Private lessons: Cancellations made with reasonable advance notice, as specified in the booking policy, may be rescheduled or refunded less any applicable processing or administrative fees, if permitted.
- Group classes: Missed classes by a student are generally non-refundable and non-transferable, except where required by law or expressly approved by us.
- Online tutoring: Technical issues caused by the user’s equipment, internet, or environment are not grounds for automatic refunds. If a session cannot proceed due to our fault, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to reschedule or provide a refund or credit.
- Exam preparation and course packages: Fees for started programs, downloadable materials, reserved placements, or partially delivered services may be non-refundable to the extent permitted by law and disclosed in the applicable enrollment terms.
- Enrichment sessions and workshops: Refund availability depends on the notice period before the session and any third-party costs incurred.
To request a cancellation or refund, you must contact us in writing at the contact details below and provide your name, booking reference, service purchased, and reason for the request.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any mandatory rights you may have under applicable Canadian consumer protection legislation.
6. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Maple Lingua Chinese Learning Ltd., its directors, officers, employees, instructors, contractors, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, loss of business, loss of data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of our services.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to the services shall be limited to the amount paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim, except where such limitation is prohibited by law.
We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, exam result, language proficiency level, academic placement, employment outcome, or other specific result. Language learning outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including attendance, practice, and prior knowledge.
You acknowledge that participation in in-person or online classes may involve ordinary risks, including minor injuries, technical disruptions, or interruptions caused by third parties. Where applicable, you are responsible for ensuring a safe environment for online participation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or gross negligence where not permitted to be limited.
